How the estimate works
Tax year 6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027. Annual income is spread evenly over 12 months. The calculation uses the standard personal allowance (with taper above £100,000), employee National Insurance category A, and net pay pension contributions that reduce income tax but do not reduce National Insurance or student-loan earnings. Pensionable pay is your basic salary at the selected working pattern, plus additional pay only if you tick that option.
NHS automatic pension tiers cover the England and Wales employee scheme. For a Scottish or Northern Irish scheme, choose your own rate from your payslip. Income tax residence is separate from the salary preset and pension scheme.
The result is an annualised planning estimate, not a payslip calculation. Payroll rounding, tax codes, multiple loans or jobs, salary sacrifice, benefits, arrears and self-employment can change deductions. One undergraduate loan plan plus a postgraduate loan is supported.
